Back up, export and delete

Your data lives on your Mac. Back it up, take it with you, or remove all of it, from Settings → General.

Back up and restore

Hindsight makes a backup automatically each day. Under Data & Backups in Settings → General:

  • Back Up Now makes one straight away.
  • Restore… picks a backup, then Restore and Relaunch replaces your current data with it.
  • Show in Finder opens the backups folder.

Export

Export Data… exports activities as CSV or JSON for any date range. Weekly Review exports a PDF of the review or the week's activities as CSV; see Weekly Review and exports.

Delete everything

  1. Open Settings → General and click Delete All Data….
  2. Confirm with Delete Everything.

This removes every activity, screenshot, video, standup, journal, backup and stored API key. It is permanent, and Hindsight quits afterward.

Data already sent to a cloud AI provider, and the copy in your iCloud if you used sync, are not affected. Delete those with the provider and in your iCloud storage settings.
